2021 Beaujolais Nouveau Label Contest Winners

Grand Prize Winner:

Felice Kite

“For The Love of Flowers”

The winner of the 2021 Beaujolais Nouveau label contest is Felice Kite, of Woodbridge, VA, chosen by popular vote.

“I entered the contest the previous year and was thrilled to be chosen as a finalist,” recalled Felice. “As an artist, I create art to portray emotions through color, and I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to do what I love best. I am extremely grateful to be chosen as the 2021 Georges Duboeuf Artist Label Contest winner!”

Felice’s winning painting, For the Love of Flowers, evokes playful hues of pink, yellow and green that convey an attitude of celebration. It also serves as a reflection of the freshness and vibrancy found in the juice of the harvest. “My wish,” she explained, “is that my artwork will bring people happiness, hope, and love.”

First Runner Up:

Michelle Detering

“Pansies”

“I am a nature inspired artist from Michigan and love to portray the natural world in a fresh and modern way. Flowers are one of my favorite subjects to paint. I thought this pansies piece would be a wonderful match for the Beaujolais Nouveau label as it captures the newness of the year and is fresh and cheerful just like the Beaujolais Nouveau. The vibrancy of the colors and the boldness of the approach match those qualities in the wine.”

Five years ago, after almost twenty years of a traditional career path, I decided to leave my job to pursue my lifelong passion for art. I work in a variety of mediums with watercolor being my primary focus. I have always enjoyed the process of creating images whether through painting or photography that tell stories of nature and the world around me. My work offers a contemporary take on watercolor emphasizing the fluidity and lightness of the medium. I hope that my artwork inspires people to see the beauty in the natural world.”
